A New Face at The Splendid Stitch!

You may recall in the last newsletter (over two months ago!) that I was looking for The Splendid Stitch's first employee. Well, I ended up receiving around 150 applications for the post!  Whittling them down was quite a time-consuming process.  However, it was definitely worth it: a few weeks ago, a hire was made and I'm incredibly excited to introduce you to Isobel! It's been such a pleasure working alongside her over the last few weeks.  She's already proved to be a really valuable addition to the company and I'm sure you'll all grow to love her as much as I do!

You can find out more about Isobel - including what she's up to at The Splendid Stitch - in my most recent blog post:

We've gotten in some new cotton broadcloths from Art Gallery Fabrics - all of which feature in our latest outfit (more details on this later in the newsletter!).  The quality of these broadcloths is fantastic: they have a high thread count and a fine weave.  They're particularly great for swishy skirts and dresses - and for shirts and shirt-dresses!

Favourite Fashion Articles I've Read Recently

As some of you will know, we've got a Pinterest board where I pin my favourite fashion articles.  I've recently updated this board with lots of new articles related to Autumn/Winter 2016 trends.  So, if you're wondering what's currently on-trend in clothing, handbags and shoes, then make sure to check out the board.  :-)

Here's some articles that I've particularly enjoyed reading recently:

The 9 Commandments of Layering Like a Street Style Star

I picked up a lot of great tips and ideas in this article regarding layering!  As someone whose layering is usually restricted to throwing on a cardigan, this article has inspired me to be a little more creative in my layering this winter.

The Style Experiment That Totally Changed My Perception of Clothing

I found this article fascinating. Essentially, the author tried three different styles (bohemian, gothic, and feminine) that were outside her comfort zone. In her article, she reflects on how the different styles made her feel. The article has made me think about - and reevaluate - how I dress on a daily basis: how my clothes potentially make me feel and act.  I'm considering some changes in light of my findings!  Highly recommended.
